Cogent Skills is working with Kemira Chemicals (UK) Ltd to recruit an Apprentice Maintenance Engineering Technician (Mechanical / Electrical) to work at its manufacturing plant in Goole.
Qualification Requirements
At least 4 GCSE's at grade 5/C or above including Maths, English and at least one Science
Salary - £17,500 per annum
It is expected there will be a salary uplift of 25% each year but this will be based on performance.

Location - Kemira Chemicals UK Ltd, 5 New Potter Grange Rd, Goole, DN14 6BZ
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
During Year 1 the hours will vary but on average will be Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00.
On site, apprentices will work a 35-hour week Mon – Fri 08:30 – 16:30 with a one-hour unpaid lunchbreak when not on day release at the training provider.
Duration - 42 months

Job Description
Cogent Skills is working with Kemira Chemicals (UK) Ltd to recruit an Apprentice Maintenance Engineering Technician (Mechanical / Electrical) to join Kemira’s growing team. The MOET Technician will undertake installation, testing, servicing, removal, replacement, maintenance and repair of a range of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment as part of planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes.
Job Responsibilities
At the end of their training, the Technician will apply their knowledge of plant and systems to safely perform maintenance and operational activities with minimum supervision. This will require them to:
- Comply with industry health, safety and environmental working practices and regulations
- Locate and rectify faults on plant and equipment
- Read, understand and interpret information and work in compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation
- Inspect and maintain appropriate plant and equipment to meet operational requirements
- Assess and test the performance and condition of plant and equipment
- Communicate, handover and confirm that the appropriate engineering process has been completed to specification
The Apprentice will follow the new employer-led Maintenance Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard, which will combine practical, technical and behavioural training with theoretical knowledge of relevant science and technology.

Training To Be Delivered
Qualification to be delivered: Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Engineering
Apprenticeship Standard: Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician
Training Provider: Humberside Engineering Training Association – HETA
Delivery model: The Apprentices will study full time at HETA for the first 6-12 MONTHS (foundation) year, before they transition into the workplace. Any further agreed study in years two and three will be through day release.
Future Prospects
Potential of a role within the organisation once the apprenticeship standard is completed, with the opportunity to undertake further professional qualifications. Apprentices may be eligible to annual wage increments subject to company budgets and satisfactory completion of goals.
