Chemical engineering industrial placement - Asymchem
Asymchem is looking for a highly motivated student with a passion for Chemical Engineering. You will assist the Process Engineering Team in a range of engineering activities to support both the CAPEX and manufacturing programme.
Qualification Requirements
You must be studying for a degree in chemical engineering or similar.
Please note this position is for students seeking a placement to form part of their undergraduate degree. If you will have graduated in 2026 we are unable to consider you.
Salary - £24,000 per annum

Job Description
You will be working within our flexible pilot scale manufacturing facility (250 to 2500 litre capacity). The successful candidate will assist the Process Engineering Team in a range of engineering activities to support both the CAPEX and manufacturing programme. Throughout this placement, you will increase your knowledge in aspects of both practical and theoretical chemical engineering and build an appreciation of how to deliver tasks in a multiskilled environment. You will have the opportunity to network across a wide range of disciplines including Facilities, Maintenance Engineering, Manufacturing Teams and other specialists in Organic Chemistry, Hydrogenation, Process Safety.
Job Responsibilities
Asymchem will invest in your development and as part of the placement may provide the opportunity to:
• Design plant or process enhancements through supporting the CAPEX programme.
• Manufacturing equipment commissioning and validation in a pharmaceutical plant environment.
• Support development and trials of new manufacturing technologies.
• Supporting hazard studies and other risk assessments
• Support process scale up from lab to pilot plant and to manufacturing scale.
• Utilising and applying engineering software to solve scale up challenges.
• Utilise the experience of the group to support continued professional development in a range of technical areas to develop a high level of expertise supplemented with transferrable soft skills.
• Document and present your work clearly and effectively either through written reports or presentations.

• Highly motivated with regards to personal learning and development to make the very best of this opportunity.
• Proactive with regards to task execution and delivery of workload.
